Design
We start with an initial consultation to determine your goals, preferences, and tastes. We then perform a full site analysis including a soil test, site measurements of existing features, and an inventory of existing plants. Views in and out of the property are considered as well as the various microclimates and soil type in placing the right plant in the right place. Drainage issues are noted as are circulation patterns. Preliminary plans are generated to illustrate various concepts for the overall plan. Once we have finalized a concept and narrowed choices of materials, we put together the final plan and estimates.
Consultations are billed at $75 for properties in the triangle area. This may be less for a property just around the corner or if you just want to spend 15-20 min. focusing on a very small area. This fee is credited back towards further design or installation work. During the initial consultation, we can focus on small areas or consider the entire property. We spend about an hour on average and will offer solutions and design concepts based on your input of goals and priorities. We would identify any problem areas and the potentials of the site while offering solutions and design options. We can do quick "thumbnail" sketches while discussing the possibilities for your site or you can just "pick our brains" with a list of questions if you'd like. We feel the consultation fee/rebate is a fair approach since we would have a good bit of time involved with travel, meeting, and estimating. If we contract for a design or installation, that fee is credited towards the project. If not, then you've received valuable, sound horticultural solutions and design advice that will save you much time and money. Whether you need accurate drainage solutions, planting recommendations, watergarden help, or just want to explore the possibilities for you property, an initial consultation is the best way to start. Designs are based on $75/hr but we can usually evaluate your needs for a flat-rate design proposal. It all depends on your goals, degree of detail you want to see, and size/complexity of your property.

Hand-drawn/rendered plans - If you prefer, we offer colored drawings to help visualize the final landscape.
CAD drawings - Most of our plans are drawn using Eaglepoint LandCAD to ensure accuracy. We can start with a base map emailed to us by the surveyor who did the recorded map or your property. You can also view the dwg files with free viewers available for download.
Phased plans to accommodate your budget and priorities - We'll help you decide the best approach for implementing your landscape plan. It all comes down to your priorities and budget.
